Executive Chef Lance Fegen was named

the Eighth Annual Houston Culinary Awards sponsored by on Sunday, October 3, 2004.
"The culinary community originally
recognized Chef Fegen as 2001's 'Up-and-Coming Chef of the Year,'"
said editor Teresa
Byrne-Dodge. "It has been wonderful
to see how he has impacted the industry as well as the community
in general in such a short time."
The Annual Houston Culinary Awards
recognize culinary professionals who exhibit high standards of hospitality
and service, and who are likely to make an impact in the industry
in the years to come. The Awards for Culinary
Excellence in Houston were founded by My Table
magazine in 1997. This year’s event marked the eighth
anniversary of the awards.
“I am honored to have been named Chef
of the Year by My Table magazine,” said Fegen.
“I have enjoyed cooking since I was
a child and am passionate about the work I do. I truly enjoy being
able to share my talents
with Houstonians. I am proud to have been considered among some
of the best names in the culinary business.”
Fegen regularly teaches classes at Sur
La Table, Rice Epicurean Market,
and Central Market. Some of Fegen’s
most recent events include: 2004 New Orleans
Wine & Food Experience; 2004
Fort Bend Food & Wine Affair; 2004
SOS Taste of the Nation event; and participated in Muscular
Dystrophy Association’s Camp For All to share recipes
and basic cooking techniques with children who have MS.
